The Science OlympiadConsists of a group of students that competes in a yearly competition. Schedules of meetings and events will be posted here.
Science Olympiad teams form all over the US. In RI, the competition will happen in early April at Rhode Island College. The competition is made up of over 20 events that cover many areas of science: biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, earth science, emgineering, and technology. The topics are diverse; for example: material science, medicine, water systems, aeronautics, forensics, engineering, rocks & minerals, and robotics are included this year. For most events, it is a team of 2 students that takes part, and while some events involve answering questions in a test-like setting, most also include some sort of experimentation. Some of the events require students to design and build something that will be evaluated and tested on the day of competition.
